EZ-Blocker®
"The elegant way to obtain One Lung Ventilation."
The EZ-Blocker® is a 7 Fr., 4 lumen, 75 cm, disposable catheter to perform lung isolation and/or one lung ventilation. It is designed with an unique symmetric Y-shaped bifurcation and self expanding distal end to guarantee easy placement and simple execution of bi-lateral procedures. This configuration does not only yield good stability which is highly appreciated when preparing the patient for surgery, but also provides the possibility of CPAP. With its soft tips and specially designed EZ-Multiport® adaptor it is a minimal invasive/traumatic device. The cuffs are state of the art polyurethane high pressure low volume balloons to provide improved closing of the bronchus, superior duration of the closing and prevention of contamination.
The EZ-Blocker® is a catheter with a bifurcated distal end. The bifurcation resembles the bifurcation of the trachea. During insertion trough a standard endotracheal tube, both distal ends find their way into the two main stem bronchi when a distance of at least 4 cm is obtained from the end of the endotracheal tube to the carina. Under bronchoscopic vision the lung can be isolated by inflating the balloon to the minimal occlusion volume. The inflated balloon will always be located at the entrance of the main bronchus.
